First appearance of Deadpool
New Mutants #98 is a key Marvel comic, especially for fans, because it marks the first appearance of the popular mercenary Deadpool. It's also notable for introducing the mercenary Domino and the beginning of Cable's transformation of the New Mutants into his paramilitary force. The issue details a fight between Cable and Deadpool, and the death of Sunspot's father, Emmanuel da Costa, also occurs in this issue
